Weeeeell, it was a late night and so I wan’t able to post until today.  BUT.  It was totally worth it.  I love lazy Sundays.  Its a nice way to start a new work week.  Our particular lazy Sunday began with breakfast.

Ben’s mom, Denise, made some kind of Mexican egg dish.  There were sweet onions, peppers and jack cheese scrambled with the eggs.  Yummmy.  I sliced up some mango, asian pear and tuscan cantaloupe on the side and toasted myself a piece of whole wheat grainy bread.  It was very filling.  More filling than my usual breakfasts that are composed of fruit and oatmeal.

After breakfast we went to church.

Our church has an Arts Ministry and there is always beautiful artwork decorating the sanctuary made by local artists. The butterflies are my favorite :)

After the service we had a church picnic.  I wasn’t in the mood for meat (grilled hotdogs and hamburgers) so I just made myself a plate of veggies and fruit sides.  Oh.  And some yummy macaroni pasta salad.

Ben doesn’t get to eat hotdogs very often (since he’s been with me at least!) so he jumped on the opportunity.

Yesterday really made me feel like summer has arrived.  Cook-outs, watermelon, friends, summer heat <sigh>. Its great.  After the picnic we migrated over to Meagan and Jonathan’s apartment to hangout.  The boys played Nintendo and Meagan and I made Chia Fizz.

We got the recipe from this month’s Clean Eating magazine (video coming soon!).  It was super refreshing but had waaaaay to many mint leaves!  Next time we will up the fizz and down the mint.   The chia seeds were interesting.  Like, gooey but still had a crunchy middle.

In the end, we were picking out mint leaves and sucking the chia seeds off of them.  Hahahaha.  It was still a great chilled drink to have on a hot summer day.

After Chia Fizz we played a game of Farkle with the boys and then headed out to House Wine for a glass of bubbly.

Ben and I aren’t wine-o’s but Meagan and Jonathan definitely are.  We enjoy sitting down together with a new wine and mulling over its “complexities” (i’m picking up on the wine lingo) .  I don’t know if my pallet will ever get any better – sometimes it just all tastes the same! But I still enjoy the process of drinking wine.  I have a slight alcohol allergy (thanks, dad) and so I’m always careful not to drink too much.  But even with a few sips I already started to get flushed!

The four of us shared a HUGE cheese plate!  I was starting to get the muchies around 4ish and this was absolutely perfect.  We had sharp cheddar cheese (white and yellow), and a olive and cream cheese patte.

We just hung out and talked for a couple of hours and then took a walk down Barton Springs to find a place for dinner.  Ben decided on Shady Grove Cafe.  They have a great outdoor area covered with trees and giant fans for when Texas heat strikes.  The two couples split a meal and salad.  Ben and I had the mushroom burger.  It was really good but I couldn’t even finnish my half!

After dinner we went to see The Hangover.  Soooooo funny!  Seriously guys, this is the first movie I’ve seen in a long time that made me laugh throughout the entire film.  Highly recommended.

Well, thats all for now.  Talk to you tomorrow (er, later tonight)!
