Geez, has it been 3 days?!  Let have a re-cap:

Saturday Ben and I drove to San Antonio to visit the house and family that I will be staying with during the week while I am going through my internship.  Jonathan’s parents are a really sweet couple and they are so generous to offer me a place to stay FREE of charge while I am at school.  Luckily, our lifestyles seem pretty similar (especially when it comes to food!) and so I’m sure we will get along just fine.

After our get together we drove from the house to Incarnate Word.  I wanted to get a good idea of where it was in relation to the house and about how long it would take the get there.  The highway system in San Antonio is pretty decent and so it didn’t take long at all to reach our destination.

By this time we were both starving since all we had to eat that day was breakfast.  Once we drove around the school I suggested we eat dinner at a popular Mexican Restraunt called Mi Tierra’s. The place was packed solid when we arrived.  In the waiting area there is a large display of Mexican pastries.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is very festive.  There are stringed lights, and metallic colored pinatas everywhere.

Ben ordered the queso appetizer to start off with.  Instead of the traditional soupy cheese sauce texture this was actual mozzerella cheese that had been melted with ground sausage.  When I was younger cheese and greasy foods really made my stomach hurt.  Now, I’ve grown out of it but I still try to watch how much grease and fat I’m eating.  I only had a little bit of queso, but it was goood.

We shared the “Fajitas for Two” plate (which was more like fajitas for 4) and both ordered drinks.  Ben got a Dos XX in a giant glass

And I ordered a margarita that ended up being very strong.  Not that it takes much but I was getting buzzed after the first couple of sips!

The food was so incredible that I ignored my body’s signal to quit eating.  The result: I felt sick the rest of the night.  I’m working really hard to eat sloooooow and cheeeew so that I can listen to my body better.  Usually if I just wait a minute before taking the next bite I can feel my hunger pains go away and satiation setting in.

The rest of the weekend was pretty boring.  Oh!  Sunday I made my gradmother’s recipe for teryaki briscut.  Ben’s mom bought it and I had never seen such a HUGE chunck of meat before.  It weighed over 12lbs!!!  Before setting it in the marinade we trimmed all the fat off.  The pile of fat that was skinned must have weight around 4 lbs.  Eeeeew.
