Its Monday. Need I say more?
My grand plans for last weekend didn’t exactly pan-out. For starters, instead of heading to the Farmer’s Market I slept in. I really wanted to go but we are a bit strapped for cash right now and need to hold back on the extra spending. I still went to go see The Proposal with the gals. It was cute, way better than I expected.
We also decided against going to the wedding. Living out West means lots of driving. By the time Ben and I got home we were both tired from the day and not up for any more action. The deal-breaker was that we weren’t going to make the wedding on time – which really bothered me. And so we decided to have a long overdue date night instead.
I had a giftcard to Red Lobster that hadn’t been used and so we decided to try it out. Its been years since I’d been to a Red Lobster and it was Ben’s first time.

Not so good crab cakes
I have really good childhood memories of this place and was a little dissapointed. First of all, the lobster aquarium looks much less impressive when you are tall enough to stand over it. I had to laugh at myself when I realized how dissapointed I was
Second of all, and most important, now that my taste for real food (as oppossed to processed immitation food) has evolved it was painfully clear that they trade quality cooking for cheap flavor.
We ordered the crab cake appetizer which were – Not the best. I imagine that if I bought frozen crab cakes and then heated them in the microwave they might taste the same as our restaraunt version.
The biscuits on the other hand were just like I remembered them – warm, gooey, garlicy, buttery, oh so good. Our main course was a sea food melody that included king crab legs, fried shrimp, garlic/butter shrimp, broccoli and a lobster tail.

Crab Attack
The overall experience wasn’t very impressive. The food was okay but everything was cooked with butter! With the exception of the broccoli, each dish was cooked with some kind of greesy something. Its a shame that the only way they know how to make decent tasting food is to smother it in some variation of butter. Sea food should leave you feeling light, not weighed down by oils.
