Hey everyone!
I was hoping that my Cleanse supplements would be delivered today but was sorely disappointed when I found out that my order NEVER WENT THROUGH. Oh my goodness
I re-submitted the order and so hopefully everything will come by Friday (fingers crossed).
In preparation for my detoxing adventures I started experimenting with raw recipes. Last night I made my very first cold soup, Watermelon Gazpacho.

Watermelon Gazpacho
It was so tasty. This raw soup was a perfect compliment to the 100 degree days that we have been experiencing. Just a little more watermelon and it would have been perfect
I got the recipe from the raw “cook” book Raw Food, Real World.
I forgot to bring my Kashi oatmeal to work today and so I had to rely on what was on hand to keep my stomach from growling (it gets so loud!). I found an orange, a chocolate bar, and some leftover berries from yesterday’s lunch.

It was filling for the moment but about an hour later I was starving again <sigh> That’s what I get for forgetting my oatmeal! I need something with bulk in the morning to keep me going until lunch time.
As I was gathering my food for lunch, an unexpected visitor came into the office. She introduced herself as Dr. Anderson and was holding a coconut in one hand and a wine bottle sized container of juice in the other. She told me that she had met the doctor’s wife (my mom, but I didn’t tell her that) at The Daily Juice yesterday and had given her a sample of the bottled juice. Interesting. Then she went on to tell me about all the healing properties that this magical berry has and how it cures cancer and diabetes, and arthritis, and pain. She left the bottle with me to give to the doctor.
Being in the nutrition field I am always very sceptical when people try to sell me on supplemental products. In the U.S. the FDA does not regulate natural supplements. That means that companies can make any claim that they want and have no credible research backing them up. We’ve all heard the horror stories of people who’s intestines were clogged by undigested supplements. Eeek!

Clogged GI tract
Not to say that Dr. Anderson’s juiced supplement wouldn’t digest or isn’t credible. This magic berry might have something to it. I just think that we should be informed consumers. And to be informed we have to educate ourselves on the products we choose to support.
Ok, off the soap box.
There is a picnic table outside the office that is shaded by two very large oak trees where my sister Jessica and I ate lunch. I had some cool watermelon gazpacho along with left over quinoa/squash/red pepper/feta salad with half an avocado on top. Mmmm.

Everything tastes better with avocado, lets just be honest. I found the quinoa salad at CM yesterday and can’t wait to recreate it. Unfortunately, when I’m on the cleanse I won’t be able to eat any grains. Poo. I’ll have to come up with some kind of brown rice parody.

Fantastic blogpost, I favorited your blog post so I can visit again in the future, All the Best
