…and the last post of the day! Whew. Gotta get off this computer and take a walk.

So after rooting through my herb books (DK’s Natural Health Complete Guide to Medicinal Herbs by Penelope Ody) and online (try here) I came up with Sage and Fennel Tea. Sage, because, like I said before it has antiseptic and astringent qualities and fennel because it breaks up congestion and mucus.

Plain ol' fennel seeds and my jar of sage

Poured water I had boiled, then let cool for 30 seconds, over it to steep for 10 minutes

Then I strained it and added a dollop of honey

What about the taste? Well…I was a bit afraid. This is my first herbal infusion and…you know. I felt kind of timid.

Surprise! It tasted light and clean and has (I’m still sipping) a mild astringent feel on the back of my throat. Win!

Contraindications: do not use this if you are pregnant or epileptic! Always read up on the contraindications of herbs before you use them in medicinal doses. Sage also inhibits a mother’s milk, so be careful if you’re lactating as well. And, as always, I am not a doctor or certified herbalist.  Do your research!

That being said…

This is tasty! Really!
