For some unexplicable reason this morning I wanted egg salad for lunch. I really have no idea why—I don’t think I’ve had egg salad but twice in my life. Both times they were delicious—but sopping with mayonnaise. Not something I wanted. So today I provided myself with a little challenge: remake the Egg Salad, keeping [...]

My husband suffers from allergies and, in particular, cat allergies, which is quiet tragic considering that he is in love with our kitten. Here is what we are going to do to maintain the health of all involved:
Buy a HEPA filter air purifier. HEPA filters are the only air purifiers that trap allergens.
Use a HEPA [...]

Hello all! What a weekend! We visited my family this weekend for some food and to pick up our new kitty. Pictures later.
We had a lot of fun. Some family came in from Washington state that we visited with, we enjoyed a few thunderstorms that we don’t get in Austin and found a nice wine [...]

Let’s get it out: I don’t like to clean. Really. Some people love to clean. They like to scrub and fold laundry and vacuum (okay, I like to vacuum…vroom vroom!). I don’t know…I just find it dull. I have other things to do…you know, like yoga or running (in a perfect universe) or…watching Buffy the [...]

Last night was tons of fun!
Wow! So much fun. I had a steak sandwich, Cornelius Fudge’s Sticky Toffee Pudding with Lavender Cream and the Zinfandel. Jonathan had Mama Weasley’s Onion Soup, Grilled Cheese and Butterbeer. Yum! Alamo Drafthouse has consistently good food, even if it’s a little expensive. They offer an extensive beer list, bottled [...]

I’ve been craving salads and veggies lately (as in, the past two days ), so I’m capitalizing on the healthy trend. Tip #1: Capitalize on your natural healthiness—like broccoli? Eat it like a champ. Think playing frisbee is the best thing ever, like my husband? Join a league…or start your own.
Anyway! Lunch was a [...]

Okay. So that might be a slight exaggeration. But only slighty.
Why, my friends? Because today…today…today…is the day.
Harry Potter 6. Oh yes. It’s here. After two years and an 8 month delay, the movie is here. You can watch the trailer at Youtube.
So, on the eve of this very exciting, very amazing day I had a [...]

Kristin and I have talked a lot lately about what it takes to make healthy meals at home on a consistent basis. I told her that I felt that I could make dinners at home for about three weeks, five dinners a week, before I just got completely burnt out. She agreed.
We’re both new-ish wives, [...]

I love to drink coffee, tea and herbal tisanes in a multitude of flavors. Generally I prefer tea to coffee, since coffee makes my head feel staticy sometimes, but there are days, like today, when I just want to smell some good coffee brewing. I’m taking a break from writing to give my head a [...]
