July 4 Weekend

Ah! This is the first weekend Jonathan and I have had a home, doing nothing, for over two months. Wooooow. For two introverts it was quite taxing! This is the weekend break we get before another onslaught: yoga teacher training weekends, weddings, showers, girls nights,  and then–our year anniversary! We’ll be marriage toddlers then :)

Friday afternoon Kristin and I had a ‘meeting’ with Carla, our designer, at Flip Happy.

So. Yes. Amazing. In Austin you must make your way to Flip Happy Crepes. They’re only open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30 to 2:30, often with a wait. But it’s so worth it.

Friday evening the Brookshires, Porters and Vorces met up to begin watching the Harry Potter movies, starting with Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Kristin and I were craving pizza so we decided to try the ‘healthy’ pizza:

We bought the Greek Spinach Pizza from the Superfoods RX Kitchen company. It cost $7.49, with promises of high fiber, Omega-3s and the like. Too bad that it was extremely small. Though it tasted fine–’healthy’, you know, but not bad–I won’t be buying it again.

By the end of the night I think the consensus was that the Harry Potter movies rank in this order:

  1. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
  2. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
  3. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, really, it’s almost tied with…
  4. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
  5. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

Mind, of course, that that is not the order of the books that we prefer. That is still a hotly contested debate! My favorites:

  1. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
  2. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
  3. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
  4. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
  5. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
  6. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
  7. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

It’s kind of a nonsense list since these books in general are some of my favorites in the world–but I think that’s the order I like them best. It always changes as I remember favorite scenes and reread them.

Yesterday Jonathan and I stayed in and had our first day to ourselves in forever. We enjoyed an awesome Prosecco, a sparkling wine from Italy.

Proseccos are the perfect summer wine. They’re made in the same way as champagne–méthode Champenoise–but in the Prosecco region of Italy. Most of them have flavors of stone fruits (apricot, peach, nectarine) and almonds. Plus, they’re significantly less costly than quality traditional Champagne. We bought the bottle above from $15 at Taste Select Wines.

I’m spending this morning catching up on blogging and writing at the nearby Starbucks. Breakfast is the ‘Perfeect Oatmeal’–which is pretty good–and a nonfat iced chai tea latte.

So I’m off to write! Writing is my favorite pasttime and I’ve finally put a priority on it. It really is my lifeblood. It makes me a better person. Do you have anything that is a must-do but you neglect in the face of other duties?

P.S. Thank GOD! For auto-save. I had just finished this when Firefox crashed. I almost lost my breakfast!

P.S. The new running song is Paparazzi from Lady GaGa. I just can’t get enough!
