Wow! So much fun. I had a steak sandwich, Cornelius Fudge’s Sticky Toffee Pudding with Lavender Cream and the Zinfandel. Jonathan had Mama Weasley’s Onion Soup, Grilled Cheese and Butterbeer. Yum! Alamo Drafthouse has consistently good food, even if it’s a little expensive. They offer an extensive beer list, bottled and draft, and also special menus. My only quibble is their winelist. The wine is never that good—even this Zinfandel—and is too expensive.  I had the Prosecco that they offered a few weeks ago and it wasn’t good, either. Someone needs to get in there and shake up their wine offering. Austin is a sophisticated wine drinking area, for the most part, and an essential Austin destination like the Drafthouse needs to cater to that.

The movie itself? I loved it. I’ve read all of the books and sure,  they could have put in a few more plot points—but they would have needed at least 2 more hours to accomplish everything. I enjoyed the focus on relationships. I felt that the only movie in the series that has intertwined relationships with action was the third, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and the rest separate relationships from action, including this one.  The series needs that focus for the last two movies, otherwise what are Harry, Ron and Hermione fighting for? And since when did character development become a flaw in a movie series? This isn’t Transformers. I will see this again, tomorrow, and I’ll let you know my second opinion.
