Small town surprises and kitties!
Hello all! What a weekend! We visited my family this weekend for some food and to pick up our new kitty. Pictures later.
We had a lot of fun. Some family came in from Washington state that we visited with, we enjoyed a few thunderstorms that we don’t get in Austin and found a nice wine bar near where I grew up.

Fried Green Tomato Chicken Club

Tres Leches with Dulce de Leche

Yum...
I can’t begin to tell you how surprised I was to find a wine bar like this in Lake Jackson. The area where I grew up is more known for icehouses and dives—not to disparage either, I love a beer and a greasy spoon as much as anyone, but still—it’s nice to be surprised! I ordered the Fried Green Tomato Chicken Club (with goat cheese mayo) which was a tasty Southern take on a BLT/Club sandwich. I also ordered two wines—a Viognier from Washington and a Chardonnay from Napa. Both were served too warm and neither were that impressive. However, Jonathan ordered an Argentinian Malbec that tasted divine! Warm, berry, jammy, smooth and delicious. For dessert we (my parents, Jonathan and I) started with one Tres Leches that was so good we ordered another one. Tres Leches is a Mexican/Latin American dessert that is a vanilla cake soaked in three milks—condensed, whole milk and cream—then topped with sweet whipped cream and dulce de leche. Soooooooooooo good.
The next day Jonathan and I planned a super sneaky stake out to trap our new kitty, born and raised in my parents’s garage. We succeeded and now have a new addition to our small family.
Meet Felicity/Luna/Shanti/Felix a.k.a ‘kiiiitttty!’:

I <3 her already!

She thought the litter box was a place to hang out.
And that’s that! She’s super sweet and gentle.
Not much else to report! I’m hoping to make something show-worthy for lunch, but we’ll see. My appetite and general body feeling has been subpar for awhile—so I’m going to do some investigation today and see what I come up with.
Have a good day everyone!
